JAMS Job Scheduler 5.4 adds enterprise monitoring and alerting through a new SCOM Management Pack.
21 June 2012 – MVP Systems Software, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise job scheduling and workload automation software, announced today that it has extended the monitoring and alerting capabilities of JAMS Job Scheduler with the release of a SCOM Management Pack. The Operations Center Management Pack will be available through both the JAMS web site and the Microsoft System Center Marketplace.
The JAMS Management Pack for SCOM allows SCOM users to actively monitor JAMS components and services throughout their IT infrastructure. Leveraging the Management Pack, users can, in real time, view resources such as the availability and health of the JAMS Agent and the JAMS Scheduler. The system state for any machine on which JAMS is running can also be monitored with SCOM. The JAMS Management Pack can monitor JAMS Agents running on servers as well as ones running on multiple hypervisors. In addition to these capabilities, the JAMS Management Pack for SCOM supports agent tasks and dashboard views.
The JAMS Management Pack captures Performance Monitor data, enabling SCOM users to spot load balancing and resource allocation issues before they cause a problem. A backlog of pending jobs or halted jobs within JAMS often signals that a resource is overloaded. With SCOM monitoring in place, IT managers can set custom alert rules and see the exact point of failure.
“Our SCOM Management Pack gives JAMS users an added level of control over their automated processes,” says David Kluskiewicz, VP Marketing at MVP. “With monitoring enabled, they can be more proactive in identifying obstacles to automation in advance of their impact. Our goal for SCOM users is for them to receive as much useful information before a job fails as they do after.”
The JAMS Management Pack currently supports SCOM 2007R2 and SCOM 2012.
