JAMS Release 5.4 for Enterprise Job Scheduling and Workload Automation

21 OCT 2011 – MVP Systems Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise batch job scheduling and workload automation software, has released JAMS 5.4 which includes more than a dozen new features and enhancements, all of which have been requested by customers.

“JAMS 5.4 is a major new release of our enterprise job scheduling solution,” states Jeffrey Smithson of MVP. “The new workflow activities in particular will be a tremendous asset to our user community as they leverage JAMS to manage various critical business processes.”

Some of the highlights of JAMS 5.4 include:

  • You can now add parameters to a System definition and they will be picked up by all jobs in the system.
  • Improved SQLCommand execution method makes it easier to run SQL scripts.
  • New OleDbCommand and ODBCDbCommand execution methods make it easier to run database scripts for non-SQL Server database.
  • New SQLStoredProc execution method makes it easier to execute a SQL stored procedure and includes support for output parameters.

The new workflow activities in JAMS 5.4 include the ability to see the details of a workflow as it is executing as well as support for sending commands to workflows as they execute. In all, more than 25 new workflow activities have been added in JAMS 5.4.
